What we collect

  • Account details - name, email address and phone number, used to run your account and contact you about it. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Boat profiles - the boats you add (type, skill level, risk tolerance), used to compute your verdicts.
  • Feedback - if you submit verdict feedback, we store your rating, the zone, and a snapshot of the verdict and conditions you were reacting to.
  • Session data - IP address and device/browser identifier attached to your sign-in session, for security.

Location

If you opt in to visit-prompted feedback, the app checks your location on your device only to notice when you have been out on the water. Raw coordinates never leave your device and are never sent to our servers - only the zone you chose to give feedback about is transmitted, and only if you submit. You can revoke location permission at any time in your phone's settings.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, we don't run third-party advertising or tracking, and we don't use your data for anything beyond running the service.

Service providers

The service runs on Cloudflare (hosting and database). Transactional email (verification, password reset) is sent via Loops. Sign-in with Google is handled by Google. Weather and tide lookups go to Open-Meteo and the UK Hydrographic Office using zone coordinates - never your personal data.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. Deleting your account (app Settings → Delete account) permanently removes your profile, boats, sessions and feedback. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. To exercise any of them, contactjacobcable94@gmail.com. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
